Can Nigerian Female Artists Ever Collaborate Like The Males Artists?

With the way this topic has been broached since 2017, you would think that our female musicians might have made more partnerships as the men in outing songs together for their audience. It makes one wonder if there is unspoken rivalry and hatred existing within the industry among the females that they use the facade of social media to mask.

Since 2019, there have been talks of A-list female music collaborations and this entertainment club is teeming with talented, young and beautiful women. Irrespective of the many talks about it and the murmurs and criticisms from fans on Social Media, there clearly has been no show of possible collaborations and releases. For example, in Tiwa Savage’s many years of giving us hit after hit, we can only point out to her personal project once joined in by another female artist, Foxy. Since then, it seems she has made little or no attempt to even work with her co-label celebrities in the same record.

Whatever the issue is, many fans of Nigerians have been dreaming about collaborations like Yemi Alade and Tiwa Savage, Simi and Waje, Asa and Di'ja, Tems and Omawunmi, Lady Donli and Dj Cuppy. I’m sure that like me you’re keeping your fingers crossed for some light and groove.

While there is some level of collaboration between Nigerian female artists, we definately want to see more for a couple reasons:
Girl power
Making history on the charts
Bringing back older artists back into the mainstream
Black girl magic

As with anything done by beautiful, creative, and intelligent women, more collaborations in the female Nigerian music scene will undoubtedly be powerful and we can’t wait to see when that happens!
