It’s Valentine’s Season and what better way to celebrate love than to curate a love-themed playlist based on book adaptations? No doubt, to be in love is such a wonderful feeling and today we celebrate LOVE! This playlist is not only limited to couples- single pringles can also listen to the playlist.
Without any further ado, here are the songs we chose from books adapted into movies:
For You by Liam Payne and Rita Ora: The song describes how people find love unexpectedly. As we all know, the best kind of love always comes when we aren’t looking for it. It was used as a soundtrack in the movie Fifty Shades.
About Love by MARINA: Do you know everything about Love? Absolutely not! The song was used in the To All the Boys book adaptation series. About Love has a catchy tune and tempo that makes it hard not to like.
Don’t Give Up On Me by Andy Grammar: Don’t tell me y’all are sleeping on Six Feet Apart? I watched the movie and during the end credits, I heard “Don’t Give Up On Me” and instantly fell in love with the song because the lyrics of the song carry so much meaning!
A Thousand Years by Christina Perri: Twilight fans in the house, say HI! A Thousand Years is a beautiful song that speaks about eternal love- a love till the end of time and till forever ends.
Love Me Like You Do by Ellie Goulding: We all can agree that Ana and Christian’s love was a beautiful, but toxic kind of love. Ellie Goulding perfectly noted this in her song “Love Me Like You Do”
Can’t Help Falling In Love by Kina-G: “Wise men say only fools rush in, but I can’t help falling in love with you”- The above lyrics sucked me deep in alongside the slow-paced tempo. The song was played in the book adaptation “Crazy Rich Asians”
A Whole New World by Zayn Malik and Zhavia Ward: We all know the fascinating tale of Aladdin and the magic lamp, don’t we? The unanimated version featuring Will Smith included “A Whole New World” sung differently by Zayn and Zhavia- an incredible version, I must say!
Thinking Out Loud by Ed Sheeran: Would the list ever be complete without an Ed Sheeran song? The answer is NO! Thinking Out Loud was used in the book adaptation Me before you- a very touching story of how a crippled man and a whole woman fell in love.
Rewrite The Stars by James Arthur and Anne Marie: You might be wondering why I didn’t use the original version by Zac Efron and Zendaya- and that’s because there’s this edge and undeniable chemistry both James Arthur and Anne Marie added to the re-imagined song version. The song is from The Greatest Showman, a movie adapted from the book on the life of P.T Barnum.
Bonus track without any book adaptation affiliations: As a proud Nigerian, it would be unfair to not include a song from my dearest country.
Ba Mi Lo by Tolani Otedola Ft Reekado Banks: This song tops my list of romantic Nigerian songs and yes, Tolani Otedola is related to Femi Otedola.
